State Capitol and Wallace Building Evacuated Today
DES MOINES — State officials evacuated the State Capitol and Wallace Building today due to the malfunction of electrical equipment at the State Capitol. State maintenance personnel reported the malfunction this morning, power was shut down and the State Capitol was evacuated. This shutdown impacted power to the Wallace Building, and it was evacuated also.
Employees and visitors to both buildings were notified to evacuate to other state buildings through Iowa’s Homeland Security public address system; Department of Public Safety officials facilitated the evacuation from both buildings.
