State Information Officer Elected to National Post
Iowa's Gillispie Elected President of NASCIO

DES MOINES —Iowa government’s chief technology leader has been elected president of the national organization representing state information officers.

John Gillispie will serve as president of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). He previously served as Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Gillispie brings more than 25 years of private-sector telecommunications and information technology management experience to his role as Executive Director of the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). He also serves as Chief Operating Officer of the state’s technology arm, the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). Last year, DAS was recognized by CIO magazine as one of 100 innovative organizations that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).

“It is a real honor for Iowa and for John to be elected to lead NASCIO. I appreciate his efforts on behalf of citizens to drive efficient, secure information systems,” said Governor Culver.

Gillispie will serve a one-year term as president for NASCIO. NASCIO represents state chief information officers and information resource executives and managers from the 50 states, six U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.
