Congratulations – Bill Gartner & Capitol Custodial Staff
Thank you very much for your help in arranging the Capital after normal work hours on September 16 for officers attending the International Association of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs Association (IOMGIA). I would like to personally thank you for turning our decal request around so quickly. This is a big change for us and it certainly has not gone unnoticed, your efforts have greatly reduced our risk of getting tickets and it is much easier to keep track of. The email notice to Marion about picking up decals works well since her duties often have her in different places at different times. Thanks again for the great customer service.

Congratulations – Russ Hayes
Gary and Stella are always great to work with, they are responsive and helpful. I try to reciprocate.
I needed to take a moment to say thank you because Russ went above and beyond the call of duty last week when we printed a manual update. There was an extra page in the update. I didn't even look at it for content; I counted the pages and submitted the job. Russ ran a proof and it didn't look right, so he called me and then brought it back. We tried to figure out what was wrong, and couldn't. I tried contacting a couple people, but by 3:30 in the afternoon on a Friday, it was impossible to find anyone. Mary Ellen actually came down after I was clocked out for the day and straightened out the original for me (discarded the extra page). I called Russ on Monday; he retrieved the original and finished the job.
I wanted to make sure I pass along one of those good things, so that Russ gets the credit for a job well done. That error didn't look like it would have had much of an impact, but the whole section of the manual would have been wrong and could have gone unnoticed for some time if Russ hadn't been watching and thinking. Too often we only hear about the bad things when in reality, we make a difference every day. Thanks and take care.

Thanks for the quick response. I just wanted to say that I very much appreciate the document that you prepared summarizing the bid award process. It's something that we very rarely see from state agencies following an award announcement and speaks volumes of the extent that the State of Iowa goes to keep the procurement process as transparent as possible. We hope that we are able to do business with the state in the future.

Congratulations – Bradley Richman
I wanted to take a moment to let you know how appreciative I and John Boccella, our IT Specialist, are for the help Bradley Richman gave us last week for our training session in the computer lab. I had set up a session on Tues. afternoon to train our office on our new version of ProLaw (our case management system). We could not connect to ProLaw, and therefore, had to end the session before it even got started. I had another session scheduled Thurs., and with Bradley's helping John Boccella on Wed., they figured out the problem enabling me to proceed with the training on Thurs. Plus, when I got to the computer lab prior to the start time on Thurs. morning, Bradley was in the area, and he helped me with a few questions I had. I know he's a busy man, but he was willing to reorganize his schedule to accommodate us. There aren't a lot of people willing to do that. We are so grateful Bradley was.

Congratulations – Chris Rhodes
Just a short note to express my enthusiastic appreciation for the help of Chris Rhodes on a recent Linux problem. This problem, which affected a production server and nearly all of the AG staff, began for the Attorney General Office last Friday and extended throughout most of the day yesterday. Court deadlines were in jeopardy and people were becoming very upset. Thanks to Chris' perseverance and willingness to work beyond normal hours the problem has been solved. I have some knowledge of Linux but in this case, the problem was complex enough that I needed the help of a Linux expert. In my view, Chris is a great asset for ITE and his help is greatly appreciated.

Several DNR employees have been inquiring as to when and how they would be purchasing their uniforms for FY09. Carpenter Uniform was again awarded the bid. I want to thank you for your assistance during Yankee Doodle Pops. You and your staff did a great job of cleaning the shop and making room for the Governor, Lt. Governor, First Lady and their vehicles. This allowed them to exit the event quickly and have vehicles in close proximity in case of an emergency.
